I have been trying to teach my youngest daughter how to write and read cursive handwriting, but it was always a struggle and some days it left us both very frustrated. I couldn't wait to review CursiveLogic Quick-Start Pack and The Art of Cursive from CursiveLogic. When she saw the books, she didn't get upset. She was excited. She can't wait to finish the Quick-Start book so she can move on to the Art of Cursive.
The CursiveLogic Quick-Start Pack includes a spiral bound workbook and online webinar that will instruct you how to use this resource to teach your children how to properly write in cursive. This is a unique program. It uses a logical, shape based, multisensory approach. The use of color, movement, verbal, and tools make it fun to use for all learning styles.
Right away the student is taught how to sit properly, how to place their paper on the table, and how to use their writing utensil. They are given little exercises to help them learn. It was really helpful for my daughter to learn these valuable tools to use while writing. She use to complain about her hand hurting or her neck while she was doing her handwriting lessons. After these lessons, she no longer grumbles. It is a nice change!
The first lesson teaches one of the four letter strings. This is the orange letter string. This approach will help your child to see things differently while they are writing and it is amazing how it changes their perspective.
This is the first cursive book that has kept my daughter's attention. She actually looks forward to completing her lesson each day. She has only been working with this approach for a few weeks and already you can see improvements in how she sits while writing and in her actual handwriting skills.
You can see how she is progressing and I am thrilled with the results. Her attitude towards cursive has changed so much. She sees it as an art now and strives to get better each day.
Once she is finished with the Quick-Start program she will begin The Art of Cursive workbook. It will continue to teach her handwriting skills but will incorporate coloring pages as well to help her to relax. This book is also great for adults that would like to brush up on their cursive skills and have fun with the 27 beautiful coloring pages. It's a great stress reliever.
I encourage you to get this set for yourself and to see what this new approach can do for you and your child. If you would have told me that my daughter would love to learn to write, I would have laughed at you, but I am so excited to see her enjoying learning cursive. Within the first week we saw huge changes in her handwriting skills and her attitude towards writing.
